more proof that I'm John Watson

I took a D&D 3.x alignment test. It was arduous and outdated, I was frustrated with a lot of the choices, but this was my final result.

I think it is actually accurate. I don't think lawful good is awfully good - it's just a different kind of good, ie more conservative than neutral good, more faith in authorities and existing moral systems. So maybe when you look at it like that, it's probably not the best good there is, depending on the situation. Sometimes you need neutral good or even chaotic good to change things for the better.
